Austrian Team wins Danube Cup with a 17-2 over Hungary and a 13-0 against Slovakia...

This years Danube Cup Team was run by new manager Gianfranco Casano and also include 5 first time National team players: Cindy Hollenstein, Christine Farnleitner, Ester Jiresch, Sandra Kock and Magdalena Stejskal.
The first game the tournament saw Hungary beating the host Slovakians 14 - 2 in a game that was tied until the last inning.
In the second game Austria played Hungary and a strong first inning saw Austria jump ahead 5 - 0. The 5 runs were supplied with doubles by Martina Lackner, Sabine Platte and Ester Jiresch and singles by Silvia Feilmayr and Birgit Pischinger. Austria scored 7 more in the second and 5 more in the 4th bringing the final at 17 - 2.
Martina Lackner started the game for Austria and struck out 3 in her 2 innings. Christine Farnleitner gave up the only 2 hits of the tournament but the defence rose to the occasion and turned a spectacular double play to end the game.
In the third and final game Austria no hit the host Slovakians. Cornelia Cwojka started and struck out 9 in her 4,1 inning, Martina Lackner then finished the game and completed the no hit 13 - 0 victory.
Austria scored in every inning starting with 5 runs in the first.
The Austrian team was fantastic all around at the Danube Cup. The team batting average was 0,527 with 9 doubles and scored 30 runs while the pitchers only surrendued 2 hits and 0 runs.
The Austrian took first place in tournament and also the MVP, Best pitcher and Best hiter award. Cornelia Cwojka took best pitcher while Sabine Platte hit 0,857 (6 for 7 with 5 doubles) best hitter and was also the MVP of the tournament.
